i discovered i have 13 degrees of scoliosis last year...i originally went to the doctor b/c i have had pain in my lower back if i'm on my feet a lot or not sitting comfortably. but also, if i'm on my feet for more than an hour or so, my left hand starts to go numb and my left shoulder has this pain that doesn't seem to be in the shoulderblade bone. could it be a pinched nerve due to my scoliosis?? what do you do about a pinched nerve?

Structural Integration (SI) bodywork therapies (much more than massage) like Hellerwork and Rolfing have good track records treating scoliosis non-surgically. Your pinched nerve is probably either caused by impingment in a vertebrae or in a muscle.

Email me and I will send you some striking photos of severe scoliosis treated with SI work.

I have had pinched nerves and its a numb tingly sensation that is more irritating than painful. If it is really painful it could be symptoms of a herniated disc. My mother had a herniated disc with those symptoms, thinking it was a nerve or she slept wrong but it was caused by her job (requiring heavy lifting) and bad posture for several years. Massage and traction was the solution for it.

massage! you need to move the muscle off of the nerve so that it can function properly. i am a massage therapist and deal with this all of the time. good luck
