Can you conceive two weeks after an abortion? My sister had an abortion at 8 weeks and 3 days on July 15th.?
The reason for the abortion was because the doctors found that the baby had a disease (that I am not fond of) in which my sister wouldn't have been able to carry full term & the baby would be a miscarriage. The doctors told her the probability of this happening again to her would be 1 in 10 million & he said she could continue having sex and trying for another baby two weeks after the procedure if she felt emotionally stable (the two weeks were "healing time"). Well she went for her checkup a week after and two weeks after the abortion she had unprotected sex and has continued to do so. They say you should get ur period 4-6 weeks after an ab. Her abortion has been 4weeks and 3 days ago & 7 pregnancy tests read positive (but could be from the last pregnancies hcg levels). Is this possible she is carrying again? Definitely yes, she can be pregnant, and should get a blood test to confirm.
After an abortion or after giving birth to a child, the next 40 days the woman is extremely fertile. This is because the uterus has been "cleaned up" in a way. It´s like you´ve done a tune up to your uterus, and it´s fresh and clean, ready to recieve any spermatozoids.
Hope this helps. :)

the doctor would not tell her to wait 2 weeks that's a load of crap, either its a fib or the doctor is crap. i have had 7 miscarriage which required D&C's, which is the same operation of that of an abortion - if u fall preg before atleast 6 weeks miscarriage is a major risk. the doctor would say "try" to wait 2-3 months.

any way pregnancy levels take between 2/4 weeks to decrease (depending on how far along).
i miscarried 3 weeks ago and my levels are nearly back to normal.
I'll have my last blood test this arvo to see if they're gone and if they're not i have to have a D&C (i was 7 weeks)
I doubt she is carrying again but if by chance she is (which the doctor should have told her not to have unprotected sex for ATLEAST 2 weeks to avoid infection) the she is high risk, tell her to see a doctor.

Listen you dont have to lie and say its about your sister. You can get pregnant anytime after an abortion
Its true that the doctor wouldnt tell you try again after 2 weeks, ive had a abortion in march, abortion pill. They told me not to have sex till 3 weeks after, and try not to get preg till at least 2 months, due to your uterus and cervix lining needs time to rebuild
I slept with another guy and didnt want his baby if it was his

I think your sister needs to get a new doctor! I have never heard of being able to detect a defect at only 8 weeks pregnant. And NO doctor is going to tell you to have sex in as little as two weeks after an abortion or a DNC. It poses too much of a risk for an infection and her cycles wouldn't be back to normal in that period of time either. I suppose there is some chance of her being pregnant again but I don't think it is likely. She needs to wait as little as two months for her body to heal and get back to normal. Tell her to get her medical advice from another doctor.

She could be pregnant.
I just have one question. What doctor in the world does tests at eight weeks? I've had four kids and not one of my doctors even saw me till at least 9 weeks. And even then, no tests were offered until 16-20 weeks. I'm really confused by this.
OK, another question. How can you possibly know there's a problem with an 8 week old baby in the womb? I have a lot of medical knowledge and have never heard such a thing.

it is very possible she is pregnant again - but only a doctor could really confirm this. If 7 pregnancy tests read positive, go to the doctor before wasting any more money.

Edited:

As the lady below me said, same procedure, which is what I had. They told me to wait 2 weeks before having sex, only because my body needed to heal. You have to allow your body to get back to normal. She should wait a little while before trying to conceive again...just in case. That is my advice.

the best thing is to go back to the doc for blood tests to be positive. Esecially if she had problems so early in her last pregnancy I would imagine her ob/gyn would want to monitor her pretty closely. so I believe it is possible but to be sure she should get blood tests done and they would probably suggest monthly ultrasounds, good luck to her!
