It is not a sin to envy if you will use it as your inspiration to succeed. But if because of envy, you try to do something that will hurt or kill, then you have two sins at once in the eyes of God and in the eyes of the law.
Jealousy is also good if you are showing that as sign that you love someone. It becomes a sin when you love yourself so much that it blinded your judgement and there is no more right but yours.

No, listen to your doctors and family, you are not sinning.
As humans were gifted free will by GOD, there will times where humans slip. These slips are natural, and NOT TO BE OVERBLOWN.
If you ACT TO HURT anyone, then you are sinning.
Sometimes a little envy will provide the boost needed to study harder for that test, or stay at the job, (or get a job) to BUY something. (Then you get the thing and a sense of accomplishment & pride that you earned that thing on your own. win/win)
Actually praying to GOD is no guarantee that their probs go away that minute. GOD may need them to have problems for a long time, no one knows.

I feel that you're not really being terribly consistent here! You start out asking about 'sin', but end up asking about taking 'meds'? THAT doesn't make sense!

Human emotions are NOT sins... "Anything", including emotional display, done to an extreme, can be potentially harmful, and 'perhaps', a 'sin'.

Why, the "Christians Only" remark? Love Thy Brother?

No, it is not a sin. You are human and have human emotions (that is how God made us).

You also do not know that these people that you are jealous of have it as easy as you think. No one knows what REALLY goes on in someone else's world. We all have struggles and life can be hard. That is how we learn and grow - through trials and tribulations. Some people can put on a happy face and mask their pain.

Yeah, it's one of the 7 deadlys sins, which happens to be a topic of my 360 blog this week.

If you can't help being that way because of a chemical imbalance - then I am sure God knows this and will take it into account when judging.

I think we all get a little envious and jealous sometimes. I think it's important to realize that nobody is perfect and nobody has a perfect life. Things aren't always what it appears. It all sort of evens out in the end. Be happy with what you have and what you are. Be happy for other people.

Iam not sure what your question is? But even mild jealousy is wrong and a sin where does the meds come in?

We are made to have the full range of emotions so experiencing them cannot be a sin. Embracing them, dwelling on them too much, acting upon them in ways that could hurt others could be a sin.

I'm no longer Christian, but that wont stop me from shedding light upon your question. it is a sin to have such feelings consume you, to act out according to your feelings. to strike someone down in an act of wrath would also go against your 10 commandments.
