Has anybody ever used a flashlight or light pointer, while playing with him? If so STOP, I made the mistake of doing that with my dog, and he does the same thing your dog does. I just simply stopped - and hope he gets out of chasing lights. He has calmed down on it lately though....Good luck with yours.

It helps to train your dog with relaxation techniques. maybe your dog had a bad memory of lights or shadows? If this dog was someone else's before it became yours (even if it was only just a year old when you received it) it might have some memory that reminds it of the light. Also some pets react to sounds or certain lights due to its eyesight or hearing. In this case it might be that the dog might confuse certain sounds or sights with others and get excited or anxious. Depending on what ever the issue is, in the end I would leave it be... it would take too much time and/or money to change this "issue" in the dog. It is probably a quark or random thing that your dog has... let nature have its fun I'd say!

I have a pitbull boxer mix! This has nothing to do with your question, but my baby is going to be 11 this year and is the sweetest dog ever.
I wouldn't worry about the lights and everything unless he is stressed out by this. He may just be a goof ball like my dog.

Have you had this dog since it was a puppy? I housesat for a friend of mine and I thought the dog was extremly sweet and all and I knew that she liked lights and shadows so we started playing. My friend put the laser pointer on my leg and the dog attacked me!!! Come to find out she would stalk anything out in the backyard and try to attack whatever was causing the movement, so please please please be careful

If your dog is obsessing, try to redirect his attention. He may have developed an obsessive behavior out of boredom.
