Do they get better reception that way?

Darn, here I thought this was a serious question.

Have to admit - get better reception - is funny

And in a way better reception is true, unlikely I can pull off being as serious as you but....
When our arms are in the air - we aren't digging around in our pockets or purses - the mind is less distracted
When our arms are in the air - our eyes (yours too) tend to look to where we are reaching - our view is upward
When our arms are in the air - we are trying to be open to God - maybe for some, the first time all week
less distracted, view is upward, trying to be open - sounds like a great recipe for better reception.
Thanks for a new perspective

Its something that's not necessary. Because God looks at our heart. But if it bring joy and contentment, why not? People have different ways of worshiping. As far as reception?? God doesn't come through air waves, He comes by Spirit.

It is a way to worship and surrender. I am sure anyone who has gone to a concert has done it when they are really feeling the tunes, so what is the big deal in doing that to The Lord!

1 Tim 2:8
8 I want men everywhere to lift up holy hands in prayer, without anger or disputing.

Ps 63:4
I will praise you as long as I live,
and in your name I will lift up my hands.
NIV

We lift our hands in praise and worship, also in reverence and surrender.

It is biblical to praise with music and songs and lifting holy hands.

and actually I do get better reception from the Lord when I am praising him. We enter the gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise.

be blessed in Jesus.

It's their way to feel more worshipful. It's like there is no set way to pray. You don't HAVE to sit still with your hands folded in your lap for a prayer to be heard, and you don't have to stand still in worship, you do what you feel lead to do. <><

It's a form of worship just like dancing, singing, shouting, giving (not only of your money but of your time, etc.)
