Ok well if someone allows you to "duzen" them , that means you no longer have to approach them in the "SIE" person and move to "du" .... am sure if you are familiar with german that means you have to also change the ending of the verb to make it fit the "du"form .... Basically it is always polite to approach someone that is your elder or someone you dont know personally with "sie" ... the rule is anyone above 18 really, unless you are familiar with them and know them on a more personal level ....

Some people also allow you to "duzen" them , just because they dont like all that formal stuff and rather keep it simple ( however let me tell you germans love their formality and barely do that , unless they gotten to know you , like you , respect you etc...)

ok here is a sample conversation;

A: "Ach , sie koennen mich doch duzen, das waere mir viel lieber." OR if they start in "duzen" form already it would be:"Ach du kannst mich doch duzen, das ware mir viel lieber."

Meaning ohh you can "duzen" me, I much rather prefer that.

B:" Oh Ok, das klingt sehr gut, also , was denkst du von blablablablablab"

Meaning oh ok , that sounds good, what do you think of blablabla ....

Hope this helps ;)
