He was a greedy little kid, while all his other brothers worked out on the farm, he sat inside wearing his colorful tunic and bragging.

In the Bible it says Jacob gave him "a tunic of many colors".

Jacob's favorite son was Joseph and he gave him a coat that had long sleeves signifying that he was going to be given the first place when it came to inheritance and ruling over the family line. In the KJV and other Bibles they didn't know how to translate the Hebrew correctly and it was called a "coat of many colors".
