There are about 15 of us altogether. 6 of us are under 16 (two are babies under 2 years). The rest of us range from about 20 to 60. Everyone in my family is claiming to be broke and yet they wanna go abroad.

Can anyone recommend a tour operator who could help us with this? Or has anyone successfully organised a big holiday like this? Where did you go and who did you book with?

I personally think we should stick to the UK a) because of the costs and b) cos of increased airport security checks, but if there are any affordable destinations abroad that would be cool.

But:

1) accomodation/destination MUST be family friendly with lots of things for kids to do
2) accomodation should be clean
3) If we go abroad it should be a sunnyish destination e.g. Spain.

Go to a travel agent and tell them how many want to go, what sort of holiday you want and what your budget is. They will be able to make several suggestions. There are cheap places in Europe, but you get what you pay for. Spain can be cheap, and many eastern european countries can be cheap as well. I've had good holidays in Bulgaria and Yougoslavia.
However, with a big group you are liely to have to book fairly well in advance. Not much chance of a last minute booking.
Allow plenty of time at the airports, as it takes far longer to get a big group organised than just a family of four. I wouldn't worry about airport security - just allow plenty of time at the airport. It's not a problem as long as you don't carry what is forbidden.

Hope you find somewhere and have a good time

You have half a coach load,so I would recc.avoid flying,go by coach to somewhere like the south of France in about four caravans on a camp site...It will be quit reasonable cost wise.and you will have a great time...Ask for group discounts, and unless the insurance offerred is free, shop around.....

Sounds like a nightmare to travel abroad with that many young children. They probably wouldn't appreciate it anyway.
Go somewhere simple like Center Parks.

Get in touch with Cherie Blair , she knows all about "Freebie" Holidays , or try Margaret Beckit she might lend you her Caravan -- should be fun . or maybe John Prescott will send you all to his Ranch and supply you with Cowboy Hats

I don't have any answers for you, but it truly sounds like a wonderful time for the entire family to become even closer. Where ever you decide to go, enjoy, and have a terrific time.
