A lot of people do not like christians for numerous reasons:

1) They steal ideas from other religions and then insult the religion they stole from. ex) wiccan traditions for Yule are used in Christianity.

2) A lot of christian religions such as Mormons try to recruit people into joining their religion. I actually find it dis-respectful when someone comes up to me asking me to join their religion as if their set of beleifs are better then mine. If I wanted to be part of the church I have the capablity of doing it myself.

3) Christianity is stereotypic towards a lot of people. An example of that would be homosexuals, and certain races and other religions.

4) Christianity has stoled or damaged a lot of people. Ask any Native American who went to residential school what happened to them. One of the reasons that so many Native people suffer is because of the loss of their spirituality do to Christianity.

5) I personally believe that some churches are too controlling and that it is sort of like a "cult" in the way it convinces so many people to follow that way.

I'm sorry if I offended any one with my comments, I am not trying to be disrespectful just trying to give insight.

Because christians persecute others. They go around forcing their religion upon others, without expecting them to retaliate back. Not all christians are bad though, its just those convert-aholics that give the religion a bad name. Same thing with the Mormons going door to door selling their religion. I mean none of this in disrespect, but I am a Druid, and have often been at the end of this convert-the-masses propaganda machine that alot of christians play. People just like me are labeled devil-worshippers and told we will burn in hell if we do not convert. I am perfectly happy with my religion, and as long as people don't try to convert me into something I don't wish to join, I will respect them in return. I hope this all makes sense.

A lot of ignorant people disrespect anything they find that makes them uncomfortable or they don't understand. This goes beyond religion and seems to be true about most areas of life. The more educated a person is on any given subject, the more tolerant they are of differences. And the more secure they are in their belief or faith, the less troubled they are by other people's disrespect.

You really should quit asking questions about being persecuted until you can start not sounding like an idiot. Do Christians say "dis", because I don't.

Christians persecuted, In the USA your a majority, you are NOT nor have you ever been persecuted, besides amongst yourself, (ie. Catholics vs. Protestants). Jews do not persecute anyone, and neither do atheists or agnostics...
It's Pat Robertson going on TV telling me if I don't accept Jesus I will burn in hell.

They do it because some of them feel we are doing the same to them. A lot of people feel that we don't understand their religions and make fun of them or try to convert them because of it. You see, as Christians, we feel it is our job to tell people of what we know and try to get them to see our point of view without first understanding what those people are like. I'm not saying we are all like that, but a lot of people feel that we should try to better understand their religion and not "shove Christianity down their throats". It's not a bad idea to see what others religions are like, it's just hard, at least from my point of view, to try not to seem like I'm forcing my religion on others. I know it's annoying but do take into consideration that some Christians do the exact same thing to other religions. We must all deal with it sooner or later, so let's try to make it as easy as possible. They're will always be people insulting us as there will be in other religions. The best thing to do is try to stop it without acting like those who would dare state such things.

I hope that helps and God bless!

Those of you who feel that your religion is "dissed", or rather insulted, i must appologize for those who are that low that they would do such a thing. I shall pray for them toninght as well as you for you seem to be doing the exact same thing by answering this question the way you are. Maybe you should try to see what other religions are like before you start spouting insulting things about them. I'm not saying convert to Christianity or another faith then the one you have. I'm just saying that you should really try to understand something before you trash it and in return, hopefully, some Christians will try to do the same.

Bless you all!

You ask why people dis Christians....well let me count the ways that my believes is disrespected
1- My money says "in god we trust" I don't believe in god let alone trust in one.
2- The pledge of Allegiance says "One nation under God" well here again I don't believe in God.....
3- Local courthouses and govt building have the 10 commandments hanging on the wall..... Umm I still don't believe in God.... what happened to the constitution that our government was made from.
4- Prayer to God in public schools...... I still don't believe.
So please explain how you a "Christians" are being dissed?
Happy to be a persecuted agnostic individual!

Love your neighbor:

You have heard that it was said, "You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy."

But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.

For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? If you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same?

Therefore you are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

Think of it as 1st level persecution... Annoying? Yes, but not really all THAT bad... Actually, it's a blessing...
But, remember: "Bless those who persecute you and do good to those who spitefully use you... "
Besides, they are to be pitied because they can't help themselves anyway...
And some of them may become His (our) family members later... We never know how close they are to coming over to being in the Light with us, do we...?

Ya know, I really don't know? I love the feeling of Christmas even though I don't believe in God or Jesus. Regardless, it is such a beautiful time of year to have fellowship with family, friends and even people you don't know.
