Lots of reasons. It could be cause their bratty kids are screaming and driving the parents crazy. It could be the high prices of food. Its the least favorite place to go because you're spending your hard earned money on things that you HAVE to have and not something you can just dream about having sometimes. People are just getting off work sometimes and they just want to go home, but can't. I personally cant stand the fact that Im working my butt off everyday and get behind some people that get 400 dollars in food stamps everyday and fill up 2 carts and Im in the checkout waiting behind them. Just start going at night to get your groceries if you can. Its less crowed and peaceful and you can think more clearly.

I wish I knew the answer to that one!! It has gotten to the point that my hubby wont even go to the grocery with me anymore! It is like people walk into the store and instantly turn evil! We live in an area with a lot of snowbirds, and it never fails that I get behind the 2 ladies shopping together side by side, and moving slower than snails! Then they wont move so others can go around, or the family that has 16 kids and they are blocking the isle! Last week I said excuse me 4 times to this lady with a bunch of kids with her and they all just stood there, after the 4th time she told me to go the other way! I was amazed.
The man that was behind me got really ugly with her and told her to get her fing herd out of the way or he would run them over. She finally moved.
People just don't have any manners any more.

Well because shopping is no fun and most people can think of a million other things or places they'd be doing or just be, period. And also because they're dreading long lineups and rude cashiers and getting out of the parking without getting into a fender bender. The whole scenario just sucks - that's why I send my husband.

peoples rudness is not exclusive to grocery stores. It takes all kinds. Most people who are rude are so because they can be and because they are allowed to get away with it

its not only the grocery people are rude everywhere, i blame the last couple of generations of parents for not teaching their children manners and demanding that they be used, everyone believed that moron dr spock that it would damage a child to say no and have limits (bulls**t) and etiquette went the way of the dodo

I don't think it is everyone, but some people hate to shop and just want to run in and run out. When we are in their way or seem to be too slow, they get very agitated and may act rude.

Because people are so rude in general. They hate shopping, are probably in a huge hurry, and for what? To go home and slap together supper.
