why are some people soo nasty?

people (not all) can be so mean with the answers they give to people asking questions. If you aint got nothing nice or constructive to say don't say nothing at all! what do you think?

It seems to be a trend for people to be more & more nasty and self involved every year. People used to think it was wrong to be rude to others.

There are several reasons.

Some people are unable to love themselves, and therefore have no idea how to love others, so they are as nasty to others as they are to themselves

Some people simply are not very intelligent, and so can't think of a sensible answer, but want the two points!!

some people can't say 'Sorry, I don't know'

That covers an enormous percentage of the population, so there are only a few left who try to give sensible answers.

Being nasty makes some people feel big. I reckon that they could at least try some humour if they can't think of a sensible answer.

Perhaps we should start report the nasty idiots for abuse?

Its quite amazing, Tracy asked a very sensible question and having read all of the answers, there are still people who have posted nasty replies. This to me is shere madness. Being offensive for the sake of it is lunacy. Giving a reasoned answer even if it is slightly curt is at least well reasoned, therefore, it came with thought not brash ignorance.
Tracy, you have raised a vey valid and good question that will be very difficult if not impossible to give a trully justifyable answer as to why there are no brainers living in this world who think they are better and smarter than you or I.
Bravo for asking the question, I applaud you.

Many people ask a question in a way that is not a question at all but simply a statement to that there belief is truth with a question mark at the end.
People who do this include all groups (religous/scientific, democrat/republican, etc), and you can't single out anyone.
When a question is asked this way it is usually by a pretty small minded person and it provokes responses from other small minded people from the opposite school of thought.
They don't think of it as being mean, they think of it as getting even with the person who insulted them by asking the question.

It comes from ignorance. Ignorant people all over the world have the attitude that they are smarter than others. Weird isn't it? I have been to many nations and find this to be the truth. Take a good look at the ghettos in your area and you will see the same thing. Ignorant people have to be abusive to be noticed.

I agree, I've gotten some really unnecessarily nasty answers to perfectly straight forward questions that wouldn't have offended anybody. In my opinion those who give those nasty answers don't have anything better to do with their time- Forget about them!

I just ignore them. Some are just smart-asses and some are kids with nothing better to do and they think they are being funny. Some are here to get a rise out of you. The more air you give them to breathe the worse they get. Cut off their air supply.

awesome philosophy! I totally agree! I guess some ppl will say anything to get a few points while others love the idea that since this is anonymous they can say whatever they want without repercussions or so they think!

I concur. But I have to admitt that I have left answers that came out sounding meaner than they were meant. And sometimes people ask questions that just deserve a snotty answer.

I know what you mean. I decided last night to venture out of the U.S. site on to the U.K., Italian, French and Australian sites. Boy, certain people can be very rude! I won't mention countries but I will think twice when I order french fries next time out to eat!!! Lol : )
