i was diagnosed with panic disorder ten years ago.
they are the worst thing ever and people just don't understand what you are going through if they haven't had them.
there are ways to get through them though and i rarely get them now!! thank goodness.
when you start to realise you are getting a panic attack you need to really focus first on what has caused the panic attack (with me i always thought i was dying so it could have been a headache that i started thinking was a tumour or something then turned into a panic attack) then you need to tell yourself you are overreacting it is ok and try to think of something else.
my doctor told me to think of what you can smell around you then something you can touch etc
i think it is like turning your senses to something else.
but it does work to tell yourself that it is just a panic attack and try to calm down... it can be done it is a matter of mind over matter. they really suck!
if you wanna chat about it message me i will reply and i know how awful and alone you can feel.

Breathe deeply in and out into a paper sack. It works wonders. Also try to get yourself away from the situation that is making you anxious if at all possible. When you are not having a panic attack, think of a safe place. Somewhere that makes you feel safe(it doesn't even have to be real). So when you have a panic attack you can take yourself to that safe spot!

Yap there are other ways to control panic attacks. Believe in youlself because you are the only one who can help yourself. First, try to evaluate and resolve any conflicts in your life such as family or marital conflicts or problems, financial aspects, consciential, life, job or social status, and other problems you may think of. Second, when you have panic attacks teach yourself to deny, avoid or deviate the issue by involving yourself in other activities like playing with the kids, engaging with a talk with the neighbors and other people, listening to the music or viewing the TV. When you have mastered this technique then, you are on your way to healing yourself. You don't need the tranquilizers and the sedatives. Throw it away. OK? Have a positive and happy outlook in life. Enjoy because life is so good. Cheers!

The fastest way is to grab a plastic bag and slowly breathe in and out into the bag. Keep doing it until you feel better and that your respiration is back to normal. Consult a doctor if you need to and for those who are prone to such attacks, its advisable to have a clean plastic bag with you at all times. You can have it folded and put in for example, your pocket. You might never know when the next attack will come.

The best way is to try and focus on what you know caused the attack, if that is possible. Sometimes it seems the worst part of an attack is not knowing why you are panicked. If you can focus on breathing deeply and thinking of what triggered it, then you can also focus on how to release destructive thoughts from your mind. It will also help in the future, and you can say to yourself "This is not worth getting stressed over." Good luck and hope you can relax.

It may not be the fastest way, but in the end it is the most enduring. That is, relaxation exercises. You can learn them at a wellness or mental health centre.
To get yourself going you may need medication though. Take care, and good luck.

Find something to distract you from whatever is causing you to become anxious. If this is a recurring problem I would see a doctor and get some type of prescribed anti-anxiety medication.
If you find that you can't catch your breath, breathing in and out of a paper bag(lunch sack size) will help so you don't hyperventilate and pass out.

Breathe into a small brown paper bag, sounds corny, but it really helps! Just make sure to keep one on hand if you are prone. Going to see a DR would be a good idea, they can either prescribe something to minimize them, or talk to someone to find out the root of you anxiety!

This may sound silly but it has worked for me. Go to the nearest restroom, look at yourself in the mirror, & tell yourself that you're fine. Splash some water on your face if you need to. If I could see that I didn't look like I was going to die at any minute... I could talk myself into being okay.
Try it.. it does help. Hope you get to feeling better.
