Yes and No, If you go to Dallas a really large market for cars, you can get a better deal than a small market. But Texas isn't the only state with big car markets. My best advice, find a make and model that you want. Go to 3 or 4 dealers, and have them compete with each other. DON'T BUY SAME DAY! Talk to the sales manager, and work it!!! Have them compete. If they want your sale, they will make you a killer deal.

I work for a major Nissan Dealer in Fort Worth Taxes, insurance,and demand are higher in Texas so prices are not much a bargan. New Mexico but it is an all day drive to get there. Buy from a dealer close to home and service it there will all work better dealing with some one near home.

Trucks tend to cost more than national average due to high demand. Imports can be a little cheaper, due to being imported directly into Houston (saves transport costs). New phenomenon is big dealerships in tiny, remote towns. They spring up there because land and taxes and other overhead costs are cheaper, but they have to offer great deals to get the urbanites to drive all that way.
