Employer sponsored health care started out as a small perk about the time of WWII, and morphed into this highly inconsistent & unbelievable complex system we have.
It seems profoundly illogical for our country (the US of A) to give lip service to promoting business & especially small business, then saddle the poor entrepreneur with health care expenses for the employees And if some employee is chronically ill the small business is punished de facto for carrying that person. And if a person has a chronic illness, they can't change jobs or will loose their insurance. Then if they loose their insurance, they can't get reinsured as now have a prior condition.
A Pro-Business stance would be universal health care!
All the other civilized countries of the world have it.

It is a big problem in this country. She should at least get insurance for a catastrophic illness. It will be cheaper & have a large deductible. She can also go to a county hospital or clinic which charge according to one's ability to pay.
So sad. Good luck!

that's my biggest problem with this country that i love. we just don't provide free medical care, when this care is something that everyone needs. we spend billions of dollars giving medical care to other countries, but deny it to our own. i do work full time, but am not covered by medical insurance either. i don't get paid enough to be able to afford insurance. here in ohio you couldn't get, maybe still can't get disability for real injuries. now we know why. it's because our political leaders were in bed with crooks who played around with worker's compensation funds to make themselves richer. the answer probably is to make each state answerable to where the money is going, and have to tell us why they are using worker's comp funds to invest in other things. we need to demand a national medical care coverage that does not take most of our earnings away from us. we already pay enough in taxes that goes to pork barrell projects that benefit rich friends of a senator or govenor. i for one am tired of working, paying taxes, and getting nothing in return, not even good roads to travel on. if we want to have good roads, we are further taxed by paying higher prices for our titles and licenses. it's time to stop being passive and giving in to the powers that be. they are there because we keep voting for them , and they keep hoping we will remain passive.
