I fell into an ice lake and almost drowned. I didn't exactly feel euphoria but everything kind felt calm i forgot about everything else. My stress was relieved for some reason. Then they pulled me out of the water. It was definitely intense.

Excellent question...The supposition is a wild guess because if a drowner is rescued they did not actually die, they were merely unconcious. The state of euphoria is a by-product of oxygen starvation. BUT AGAIN-if you live to tell about it you did not die. I am not making light of or patronizing....I have been near death myself.

I don't believe that. The last thing I would experience just before drowning would be FEAR of course!

I would imagine that if your brain was deprived of oxygen you would hallucinate. However I have never spoken to any dead people to cooberate with about the euphoric experiences they may have had before they died. Most dead folk don't talk.

Mainly because people almost drown, and come back..
Just like people die when their hearts stop, then they have CPR, and they see "white lights."
