Does HSBCDirect do credit check when account opened online?

Question

I am thinking about opening HSBC direct savings account online and just wondering if they do credit check/affect on my FICO credit score?
After opening my account would I see credit inquiry in my credit report?

Yes they check your credit report in what it's call a "hard Inquiry" in which they pull the entire file revealing your accounts, payment history, public records, insurance, and any other personal information that will identified you. Most of the time they pull from Equifax.

I dont believe that savings accounts care at all about your credit. You are depositing not borrowing. They will probably check your credit but it's not going to affect your FICO score one way or the other.

I found a site with reviews and benefit ratings. HSBC ratings and cards list below - The site also has credit score information on the main page and how you are affected by credit card applications... it's near the middle of the page though, you have to scroll down a ways.
