Were a safe and detailed process underwent to check for communicable genetic diseases, such as BSE or Creutzfeld-Jacob, why shouldn't this otherwise abundant supply of meat, bone, fats and other available biomass be considered for consumption, production and manufacturing in today's society?

As long as you avoid human offal the rest of the body should be edible but cannibalism has never been widespread as all cultures past and present have revered their dead.

Because of the concentration of particular bacteria in the human system. Bacteria we all have, but if we consumed additional human meat with all that additional bacteria, the concentration would be too high for our systems to deal with, and we'd get sick.

Otherwise, you have a good point.

There isn't a meat shortage, so the abundance of human "meat" is irrelevant. Its a disgusting thought-people are not animals, and animals are not people. You seem to have really thought about this-you really should talk to someone...else.

The fat doesn't marble nicely in human meat. The appearance would be quite gross. Also, many humans take supplements and even manufactured hormones. Who knows what these chemicals can do to your stomach?

Plus, what would you name the dishes? Flambe du Paul Twohill? Yikes!

That is too gross for me..I can imagine having my family overfor a big dinner and announcing: We are eating Grandmothers liver with these delicious sautateed onions....i hope our society doesn't come to this.....I hated watching
the movie Alive when it hit the theaters,it was gross, but, i guess they had to do what ever they could to stay alive.

As I see it, we have so many convicts on death row, mayhaps they should give back to society - a pound of flesh and all.
We keep them in the pen (or their pens, as it may be) until they're clean and safe and then chop chop, who wants filet of convict?

Because most people consider it a sign of great disrespect to the deceased. Religion and all that.

And you're not likely to change their minds by usin' all them fancy scientific-ky words, cowboy. *stern look*
