Yes, the Catholic church has had it's bad times. But let's not forget that what happened back then does not reflect on what the Church teaches. You'll hear priests, bishops, cardinals and even the Pope Benedict XVI say that what some of the Popes of the past were bad Popes. The fact is that God's Word never changes. It's the same today, yesterday and forever. The lifestyles of some of those Popes does not reflect on the teachings of Jesus Christ. God Bless You.

Yes there are many popes like that, so, what's your point.

Hopefully, the Pope is a more unifying figure now.

There where no other churches then, so that is where most Christians came from. Therefore, I contend that there must have been many good priests.

Perhaps that explains some of the thinking behind forcing priests
to be celibate (look out alter boys!). These are obviously some excellent representatives/ambassadors to their creator!
