When I was in school in Florida we had it once a week and the most I think we did was learn to juggle. In Virginia we had it once a week as well but then at the end of the year they expected you to pass all sorts of physical fitness tests. Anyone else think physical education should be stressed more?

Absolutely. The government is finally realizing that this is an area left behind because of the academics push. But thier very own research has shown that one doesn't happen very well without the other.

Physical education is a very necesary thing..but steps are being taken to improve our menus and increase activity as well.

Physical education SHOULD happen everyday at elementary schools. It is as important as reading, writing, and spelling. However, it is an easy thing for schools to cut because they want the kids to be able to do well on those pesky standardized tests. I personally think being fit helps a person concentrate, so we are really shooting ourselves in the foot there.

Considering the amounts of fast food the typical child would gobble up a week, in gym, yes, three times a week is good. They don't necessarily have to play any sports but doing common stretches and exercises (such as crunches and weights) will keep their metabolism going. Many kids might complain about this but if it's restricted to at least stretches and simple exercises, they might not mind so much.

We had PE everyday, until middle school. Then every other day, with health class on the odd days.
Personally, I think kids should be active everyday, and at least the kids are going outside for recess in elementary school. But by the time they get to middle school and they really need the exercise, they don't get PE everyday. High School is even worse.

easily, i do no longer think of it relatively is required in any respect, a minimum of it won't on the colleges i've got been to (i've got been to six different ones so far, it's going to be 7 after next college 3 hundred and sixty 5 days.) it relatively is an entire and entire comedian tale. absolutely everyone seems to be enormously plenty only screwing off the excellent time. on the highschool i'm at real now, our instructor has us run for like 5 minutes yet no person relatively runs, we only swing our hands and in fact slide our ft around the floor and circulate relatively sluggish, sure I do it to :( yet I workout on my own besides, and that i haven't seen a metamorphosis in weight in any of my heavier classmates, perhaps it would be greater effectual if P.E. grow to be greater based in spite of the incontrovertible fact that that's no longer. I in basic terms had to take it my freshman 3 hundred and sixty 5 days and this 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. whilst i'm a junior and senior I won't. yet i might have enjoyed to spent that era of P.E. taking a different type, one that is relatively substantial to me so i ought to get them out of ways my first 2 years of school then i might have much less to rigidity approximately my final 2 years.

I live in Illinois, where PE is required daily. That is great but I feel we need to place more emphasis on exercise than standing around waiting for your turn at a game or to run a relay race. I think we need to look at ways to keep our students moving for the majority of PE time. How much time in PE is actually spent getting your heart rate up with aerobic exercise, versus standing in line, wating your turn?

I think they should have it every day, though few states mandate that. Illinois does. Smart. Kids need the physical movement during the school day, plus it teaches social skills. We need it especially today, when something like half the kids are considered overweight.....

No. Physical education should be on a daily basis. Didn't realize the schools did away with it. No wonder we are all getting so fat.

they should have it more than 3 times a week because obesity is on the rise in kids. it should be once a day at least half an hour to an hour.

yeah. why not? you'll get healthier bunch of kids of the next generation. provided that they follow up the exercises regularly. encouraging them to engage in sports club activity should do the tricks too since clubs really focus on that particular sports and would usually train as hard as they could.
