I have heard of the fire hose treatment for retiring pilots. (it's for their last flight) They get cooperation from the firetruck to hose down the outside of the plane, specifically towards the nosecone/windshield area. I am not sure of the origin or significance but it would sure be interesting to find out. Perhaps it's something like cutting off the shirt tail of the pilot when he/she first flies solo....

Water Cannon Salute

Never heard of it. And I spend 21+ years in the Air Force working in aircraft maintenance and operations.

I've seen fireboats in New York and Boston doing water cannon salutes, but never an airplane. But I guess there's always a first.
