What did it teach you? For me it was the year my mother could not afford a Christmas tree and my oldest sister went and babysat another child and we all walked late at night to buy a tree at the conveniece store. We drug it home and made decorations for it as we could not find them. My mother sat and cried that morning when she came home. She was only in her 20's raising 4 daughters alone and that Christmas at ages 8,10,12,and 13 we learned that the most important gift we could have or give was love. We learned the true meaning of the gift of our Savior.

I arrived at my (US Army) duty station in Germany on December 22, 1970.
And, that was the most lonesome, miserable holiday I ever spent in my entire life and I'll never forget it.
People do not know what "lonesome" means until they are thousands of miles from anyone they know, surrounded by strangers, while the world celebrates around them.
Happy Holidays....

I had not yet become a Christian. My son had just been diagnosed as autistic two weeks earlier. He was still regressing. As we watched how different our child was from his cousins, life seemed so hopeless. On the tube was "It's a wonderful life" again. I had seen it so many times but never really gave it much attention. Then it hit me. I was not being punished with a difficult child. I was here to serve his needs. I as supposed to make a difference in his life. I stopped feeling sorry for myself and eventually figured it out. What a blessing he has been.

I love yours Debra!!!
My mother, has over the years, been a secret Santa for a needy family. We pick a family that is in need and doesn't have much. On early Christmas morning, we put presents at their door. They have never none who they were from. My mother started doing this as an adult because as a young girl, one of six kids, this was done for them. She wanted to give back and in turn it taught me how to be giving and loving.
Another one is, my husband and I tried for 8 years to have a baby. In December 2002, we finally conceived. On Christmas Eve, I saw my daughter for the first time, through ultrasound. Just a little peanut, but the most beautiful gift the Lord has ever blessed me with. We named her Faith, becaue it took alot of faith for us to have her, not to mention, Faith is also my mothers name. Then 2 years later, he blessed us again with my son, Samuel. I named him Samuel from the Bible. Samuel was Hannah's son. She named him Samuel, because she "Asked the Lord for Him."
Be Blessed.

I'm not really a Christian. I'm a Catholic. but hey they're stillt he same.
Nywayz every eve of Christmas, all of my family (my grandparents, uncles & aunties, ninongs, etc.) would gather in one house and we'd have huge party dinner, and after that we would play games and have prizes and stuff and then we would do Karaoke and stuff, after that we'd play this game called Manita Manito game (exchanging gifts game), then we'd wait till the clock goes to 12 AM (Dce. 25, Christmas) and then we would open all our gifts! We would do this in The Philippines, every Christmas Eve, but all that changed after we moved here in the U.S. I would really like to do that again sometimes. It was really fun with my cousins and all.
But we're going there this December! Can't wait!!! : D

Well, I am not a christian but I do celebrate christmas, and I do have an interesting memory.
Seeing my father have the tree fall over on him while he was setting it in the stand.

It was Christmas Eve of 2005. I walked into church for mass, seated myself and turned my head and looked as someone was looking my way and we connected with our eyes. It's never been the same since. I had many x-mas eve's before this one, but it is one I will never forget as I know this person was looking for me and I was looking for them too.........

I think it is reading about Jesus' birth every Christmas Eve, no matter where we were.
