Get some information from the Stuttering Foundation of America. They have videos online and brochures that can be downloaded on various subjects at their website www.StutteringHelp.org. Their books and DVDs are available in public libraries all over the U.S. You can look on the website for your town and see if your library has any. They also have a list of speech pathologists who help people who stutter.

There are two main thoughts on this.

1: If you have trouble getting a word out - swear!
I know it sounds silly, but it works.

2: Don't worry about it.
We all think that people are laughing at us or staring at us.
"Oh dear, look how big my bottom looks in these jeans."
or "People will think I'm funny if I stutter."

The whole point is we are all so busy worrying about how we come over to everybody else - you hardly notice what anyone else is worrying about.

Just go about your business and stop trying to impress.

Go to a speech therapist or talk slower and if you do stutter just laugh it off and be like " opps haha i just stuttered " and go on like its nothing..if you make a big deal about it when your talking, it'll be obvious.

I stutter only around men who scare me. Assess what might be the triggers and then deal with them. Good luck. Oh! Also, contact a speech thearpist. They can do wonders.

if you are really concerned about your stuttering and it is causing social problems for you, maybe you should get a consultation with a speech pathologist. you can find them in your yellow pages, or your doctor can refer you to one. the speech pathologist can help you with exercises that will help you to reduce or stop your stuttering.

just talk slower and think really hard of what your going to say next...get some flash cards with sentences on them (or amke some) and just make a LOT of them and practice saying them over and over again until you can say them really clearly and fast
