I know this doesn't answer your question, however I did a bar course. I was guaranteed a job on completion and they put me in a local club which was predominately German. I did not speak the language and so to serve the customers I would say, point! Hahaha, I couldn't wait to get out of there.
Pointing works though, trust me LOL

When you're in Europe use your thumb. That means "one." If you use your index finger they just might bring you two.

In other countries, just point to the tap or a bottle of what someone else is drinking.

Spanish: una cerveza por favor
German: ein Stiegel
French: they don't drink beer
Japanese: eech-nee Asahi (or Orion if you're on Okinawa)

too complicated. just say the name of the beer, like heninken, carlsberg, tiger, etc or even the local beer.

any bar tender and/or pub worth their salt would know the names of the beers like the 1x2 multiplication table.
