Where I can go dancing or where there are bands playing. Are there entrance fees (free is better!). Why is it a must to check it out? The more suggestions the better. Thanks

The other answerers will tell you about dancing.

You're gonna want to eat before you go dancing.

I STRONGLY recommend you go to Il Fornao on Hester Street, but go on the weekend, because Hester Street is closed to vehicular traffic so when you sit outside you're not inahling carbon monoxide.

I had one of the best Italian meals I've had in my LIFE right there. The service was just right -- they took your order, left you alone but kept an eye on you for what you might need. It's been a few years but I still remember the lobster pasta I had there.

Mmmmmm, mmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!

Wow have fun finding a place for free...
The Copa is classic and great for dancing but LONG lines.
Avalon is great for dancing as well, however its mostly the bridge and tunnel crowd.
Stereo- my favorite.
Pink Elephent is very new and very hip.
The Hiro Lounge at the Maritime Hotel is great.
The club Home and the Guest House are really hip at the moment as well.

They are all about $20-$35, but the earlier you get there the better!
