W-2s are forms issued by an employer after the end of the year that shows your taxable income from that employer and any deductions, like withheld taxes, Social Security and Medicare. They prove that she has been (legally) employed, a prerequisite for citizenship.

W-2 forms are the forms you get every year to file your income taxes. They state how much money you were paid, how much tax you paid out of that income, and if anything else was withheld and why. Everyone is supposed to receive one each year by the end of January so they can file their taxes in a timely manner.
