I'm not exactly sure what you used it for, but there are two things it is used for. One usage is for depression and the other is seizures. I had to use it for my seizures and it worked for about six months. My body must have became immune to it because after that it didn't work as a matter of fact all it did was cause constipation.

everyone's body responds differently to anti depressants. for some people, lexapro may work wonders while for others it doesnt do anything. my suggestion would be to try the lexapro and see how well it works for you - if you find you are feeling better and are less depressed then maybe it is a good drug for you. your dose may need to be increased over time as your body gets more used to the drug - so if you start to feel more depressed as time goes on, then talk to your doc about an increased dose. however, if you do feel more depressed or if the lexapro isnt helping you, talk to your doctor about trying another anti depressant in the same class - examples od other drugs that may help you are prozac, celexa, cymbalta. good luck!

ive used lexapro twice. the first time i took it i used it for 1 yr and it worked great.i went off of it for about a yr and the second time it did nothing so the dr upped it to 20mg and it gave me horrible headaches.the medicine takes at least 1 month to kick in so if its been less than that wait until the month is up if it doesnt seem to be working then ask your dr for a new anti depressant there are thousands of them on the market he then gave me prozac it works wonders so it really depends on the person sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt but like i said give it some time then switch.good luck and stay happy

Everybody is different, of course. And if you're having a problem with the meds, you should definitely see your pdoc about adjusting them.

That said, Lexapro made me worse. It was a slow process, however. Over time I got more impersonal and despondant, even though I wasn't having breakdowns.

welll, everyones different. i have been using Lexapro for about 3 months now. this medicine felt weird to me. it made me kinda happy, but it was an *artificial* happiness. instead of dreading to go to school & work every morning, i would just wake up and go...without feeling depressed. so, i guess u could say it helped. but *I* think it just turned me into a robot. i'm not really pleased with this medicine, although it seems to work for everybody else i know. *lol*

Neither. It did nothing at all. What finally got me out of depression was reading this book:

After nearly five years of major recurrent depression, at least eight different drugs, four doctors, two suicide attempts, a short stay as a "5150" in a mental hospital, and several weeks of therapy sessions, I finally found this book. Reading it and diligently doing the exercises prescribed in it is what finally got me out of the rut. It's been over a year now, and I feel great. I'm back at work, alcohol free, drug free, and loving life.

I was on it for about 5 years and it worked great. Then I needed a change. If it's not working for you, tell your doctor. You may need to try a few things to find out what works for you.
