I have been teaching myself Spanish for the past 6 months and it has been boiled down to the following sources and study aids:

The text: Spanish the Easy Way which you can usually get used from Amizon.com or new for about $13 at the bookstore and the following web sites:

The spanish dictionary has audio files for some spanish words and the tutorial web site is divided into free and not free sections, but has a really good and easy to hear audio files.

Some spanish speakers speak faster than others, and the tutorial site speaks slower than any other I have found. It is also highly organised, concentrate on the Grammer section first.

It takes time to learn a new language and lots of repetitive exercises with lots of speaking. To help your memory review new words before going to sleep. Also, write new words at least ten times and use them in simple sentences so that the words become your own.

It is not easy, I have studied German before and that is probably the easiest language to learn if you already know English, but market wise Spanish is a better investment of your time.

When you start a new chapter in whatever text you use, read the vocabulary section first, then the Grammer section, then do the rest of the material. Good luck!

Yeah, the others got it right. You have to live in a Spanish speaking country fro awhile then it puts you in survival mode and you are forced to learn it.
