it takes a cat som time to accept another just keep an eye on things when your home and only seperate them when you cant step in . they will never eccept each other if they are seperated.
they will need to have their litle spats to determin domanence ,once each cat is shure of its place things will setle down

I had the same problem when one of my siblings brought a new cat home it did not like it, it hissed at it and everything but, I didn't do a thing about it unless they got into a BIG fight otherwise my cat just ran and hide. Then now they are playing with each other and and play fighting so I am sure your cats will do the same thing.
But if they get into a big fight, well if they are by each other I would stand there and watch them in-case if they get into a BIG fight.
P.S. The cats I have were playing with each other in less then a week, about 5-6 days.
So really you should not have to keep them in different rooms otherwise they will never get to know each other.
Hope they are playing together soon.!

I wouldn't. Both cats need to get used to each other. Keep an eye on the kitten though. The 7mo. old cat will hiss, because it is unfamilar with the kitten. Once it gets used to the kitten it will stop hissing. It is best to have both cats get used to each other early instead of later.

yes. leave the new kitten in a separate room for about 2 weeks and after two weeks let the kitten out for an hour each day and let the other cat get use to the kitten being around. but watch the cat and kitten went you let the kitten out.

You can separate them if it makes you feel better for a few days or so, but eventually they are going to have to learn to get along.
Your older cat is used to the run of the place and doesn't like the competition. The older cat will calm down and get used to the kitten. It may take a couple weeks, but that's always how it's worked for me. I've never separated my animals in the past and it always worked out fine.

It wouldn't hurt to keep them separated until they get used to each other. I don't have cats but I have 2 dogs and I went through this when I first brought Frost home. He was only 6 week and Prissy was 4 years old. For the first week or so she kept snapping at him and growling. I guess she just wanted to let him know that she was the boss. I kept them separated unless I was in the room to watch them. After about a week they were fine and even started playing with each other.

yes they should be in seperate rooms because the kitten shouldnt have been taken away from its mom until atleast 8 weeks old. Then after at least three weeks in the room take the 6 week old kitten out of the room... dont put him/her down, but put him/her in front of the 7 month year old and let them sniff eachother.

6 weeks is very young. I would keep them separate for a little while, and start introducing them together for short periods once he's about 10 weeks old while you can be watching. If you think it's going well, then extend the time somewhat and then be brave and take the plunge and let them do it on their own. Good Luck!!

keep the kitten in a seprate room for now until you think the older cat is ready to be intraduced to the kitten. Then introduce them slowly.

no, because if they're always away from eachother the won't get use to it, make sure to give them equal attention
