JAPAN... they're always at least 10 Years ahead of the US, when it comes to Technology! Example: The first time I heard anything about HDTV was back in 1990, when Japan First came out with it.

Japan, research shows that the fastest source of technological advancement comes from Japan. So much so that they have been said to be several years ahead in development. The only department in which they have a significant source of competition is in automotive research. They have a long standing rivalry with Germany.
Many have said that the reason behind Japan's technological advancement is their economy. Japan charges a zero percent interest rate to governments and large corporations to invest in their products and vice versa. This gives the a considerably higher ability to increase their rate of expenditure on various fields of research. Due to this, they can put a larger staff on individual projects and extend the due dates on these projects, not having to worry about funding.

Canada, Japan, and the United States are pretty modern. I can't really pick which one is the most modern between the three.

Why does it matter? I suspect people would have different ideas about what makes a country modern, in any event.
