If I accept Jesus as presented in the Gospels but reject the rest of the New Testement, and reject the Christian Religion, will I then be rejected by Jesus?

Hello friend,
I read your question with great interest and it raises some questions for me to ask you. I ask these in the form of my answer in hopes that as you read my words, you may gain insight.

Friend, when you say "accept Jesus" that can mean so much or nothing at all. Do you mean "receive Him as Savior and Lord"?

Next, you suggest rejecting the rest of the NT and the "Christian Religion". There's a lot of good information there friend. What I
suspect is that the real problem may be with Religion itself.
At least I'd hope so. Would I be wrong to think that the real issue
lies somewhere beneath this question?

Now if I may, let me speak to the last part of your question.
If you look at 2 Tim.3:16 you'll see that all Scripture is given by inspiration of God, or God breathed. This includes everything past the 4 gospels. Should you choose to reject all the rest, you are rejecting God's Word. Why would you want to do that?

Unless... it's Religion that bothers you. If that be the case, we can shake hands brother because it bothers me too!
Jesus did not form or build a religion, He built a church. Not a denomination, sect or group of "select elect".

Friend, may I suggest that my gut says that somewhere, maybe in the recent past, religion has failed you. Why else would you want to discard great truth like:
..."I will never leave you nor forsake you..." Heb.13:5 (in part)
or ..."in Him (Christ) we live and move and have our being..." Acts 17:28 (in part)
or "Blessed is he who reads, and those who hear the words of the prophecy..."Rev.1:3 (in part).

Friend, as you probably know, the Book is full of encouragement, instruction, and warnings. It is all for our learning and admonition.
I say, reject religion if you like. Closely scrutinize the Scriptures and when you find something you don't like or understand, ask God about it. The Book will stand, and God invites your questions.

Finally friend, I humbly also invite your Bible questions. Start by receiving Christ, I can help you understand what that means.
Then reject religion if you like. Religion is not faith.
And if you accept Christ, He won't reject you. Look at Mat. 10:32,33 for one example.
We can work through the whole rest of the Bible thing.

Jesus, who loves you and died for you, knows your heart. He alone knows that which troubles you most. I pray you will hear and heed His voice.
Consider what I say,
2 Tim. 2:7

The Bible, Old and New Testament, is one book. Jesus Christ is on every page. The Old Testament points to the coming of Christ and the Cross. The New Testament looks back to the Cross, and what Jesus has done for us. The Bible is the inerrant, infallible Word of God. If you truely accept Jesus, the Holy Spirit will come into your heart, and open your eyes to the truth of the whole Bible.
As for the so-called Christian religion. True Christianity isn't a religion, but a personal relationship with Christ. There are some groups, such as the Jehovah Witnesses, the Catholic Church, the Mormons, who have books other than the Bible, and rules and rituals to follow. These groups and really cults, and not tru Christianity.

FAQ: What books are in the Word and what are apocrypha?

"The books of the Word are all those which have the internal sense; but those books which have not the internal sense, are not the Word. The books of the Word, in the Old Testament, are the five Books of Moses, the Book of Joshua, the Book of Judges, the two Books of Samuel, the two Books of Kings, the Psalms of David, the Prophets Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Ezekiel, Daniel, Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi: and in the New Testament, the four Evangelists, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John; and the Apocalypse. The rest have not the internal sense" (Arcana Coelestia n. 10325 or Heavenly Doctrine n. 266).

FAQ: Why different testaments and books in the Word?

"As regards the Word particularly, it has existed in every age, though not the Word we possess at the present day. Another Word existed in the Most Ancient Church before the Flood, and yet another Word in the Ancient Church after the Flood. Then came the Word written through Moses and the Prophets in the Jewish Church, and finally the Word written through the Evangelists in the new Church. The reason why the Word has existed in every age is that by means of the Word there is a communication between heaven and earth, and also that the Word deals with goodness and truth, by which a person is enabled to live in eternal happiness. In the internal sense therefore the Lord alone is the subject, for all goodness and truth are derived from Him" (Arcana Coelestia n. 2895).

I never presume to judge who will be rejected by Jesus, but I don't understand why you would accept Him and still reject any part of the New Testement or the Religion that is based on His teachings.

To reject the Christian religion is to reject Christ. So what is your point? When a person accepts Jesus into their heart they are accepting the Christian faith. It is kind of like saying you hate chocolate, but you love Hershey bars. Doesn't really make sense now does it?

If all you accept is the first four Gospels, you will never know the Baptism of the Holy Spirit that is the true Seal of God, That was not given till the day of Pentecost. in Acts. And you will have no understanding of the true Armor of God in Ephesians, or the freedom given in Galatians saying those with that spirit are no different Greek, Jew, Male or Female. you will not have filled you clean but empty house. The 4 Gospels are written to the jews. Are you a jew? Acts is a transition book from the gospel for the Jews to the Gospel of Grace for the Gentile.

How do accept Him, if you reject to get to know Him? The Word in it's entirety explains His purpose and His purpose for your life? In a way you are rejecting Him not really accepting Him. His word is true, have faith.

I would just do the best I can - God will meet you the rest of the way. Stop worrying about what you reject and concentrate on what you accept.

That was a disgusting answer, Christian Burner. You need to grow up AND watch your mouth!
