How long was the ride? What happened?

I've picked up one guy who really needed a ride to get to a party, little did I know there were 5 more in the ditch. Had fun at the party. Picked up another guy who claimed that he fell in love with me, in 15 miles. But the strangest one I've picked up is when me and my friend were driving one night and he was on the end of town by the last stoplight. At first we went by him and it looked like some young kid. We talked about it and turned around to pick him up. He turned out to be an older guy, who we couldn't understand. She was watching his actions and he took out a cord. I told him just to point in the direction he wanted to go and she was the middleman. He kept playing with the cord and she thought he would try and wrap it around my neck since he was sitting right behind me. I saw her reaching into her purse and pull out her spray. I asked her what she was doing and told her my gun would take care of everything and made sure I said it loud enough so he could hear me. He led us to a place where they keep people who are mentally incapable of doing things and taking care of themselves. He got out and kissed my hand, bowed his head in a thank you and walked into the building. We drove away and didn't say anything for awhile. I asked her if that was really pepper spray. It was car deodorizer. She asked me if I really had a gun. I told her no, and laughed most of the way home until we seen someone else hitchhiking. We didn't pick him up.

I picked up this guy when I was driving across a huge housing construction site. I was just out kind of exploring one Sunday afternoon. I was like 19, blond, male, naive, just what a lot of sexual predators are looking for. There were no houses yet, no workers, no gaurds, just the initial grading had been done. There was this guy out there by himself, just walking. Kind of a big fat slob guy, the kind you always picture stalking kids on MySpace. I had no idea who he was or why he was there, because I was pretty far off the main road. He flagged me down, and asked me if I could give him a ride. Like an idiot, I did. I cannot even explain to this day why. I was raised like most kids to never give rides to strangers. What was the first thing I did? Gave a ride to a stranger. Not only a stranger, but we were the only ones around for a couple of miles, so I could have been prison-raped and/or dead and absolutely no one would have known. The thing is, I see creeps now that look just like him on America's Most Wanted. God watches over idiots who have abandoned all logical thought, so after a few minutes we came to the road and I let him out. Nothing happened. It didn't occur to me then what could have happened. I look back on that day almost 30 years ago and I cannot believe I did it. I can assure you I would not do it now.

Let me know when you want stories about being picked up. All my hitchhiker stories are from the other side of the car.

Cool. Didn't even know there was a commuting category.

a couple of guys in the middle of nowhere carrying one bowling ball bag and one small suitcase.picked them up and drove 40 minutes into the nearest small town and dropped them off.drove on to next town 30 minutes away and took care of some business i had there.when passing back through where i had dropped them off ---behold there they were. i felt that i knew they were ok so i picked them up again.drove the m back to almost the exact spot where i originally picked them up.i asked what was in the bags and they told me that they walked to town each saturday for groceries and they were easier to carry in the ball bag and suitcase.which all seemed very funny to me including the entire episode at hand when the smaller of the two asked me...........do you come this way every saturday? As i chuckled my head off i told him NO! and left immediately.

I picked up three indians in arizona, it was the weirdest ride I have ever had, one talked too much, but it was all slurred, one kept saying he was going to kill me, and the other didn't say anything at all. Basically I almost got robbed, if it wasn't for quick thinking and fast talk, I might be buried in the desert somewhere. Don't pick up indians in Arizona
