L-4 is the forth lumbar vertebrae in your lower back. L-1 thru L-5 make up the lower spine. L-5 leads to the first scaral (or sacralized verterbrae) that forms the top pf the sacrum, the triangular shaped bone that holds the rt. and left iliac bones together to forn the pelvis.
It is very common to have a lumbar disc protrusion at L-4. The most predominant joint is L-5, S-1, at your pelvis. Spinal stenosis is an encroachment of the verterbral disc in the spinal canal, that houses the 'Cauda equina" (the bundle of nerves at the end os the spinal cord). It can be treated with steroids, exercise, but most often surgery, should the disc rupture.
