I haven't owned a dog in about 6 years and this is really strange to me.

I had it on animal planet for my kids today, the "Worlds funniest animals" or whatevr it's called.. and our new dog sat and stared at the tv..finally after about 5 to 6 solid minutes of staring at the TV she jumped up twards the TV and looked behind it and under it.. I guess for whatever animal she saw on tv.

Does this mean she is agressive or hunter instincts?

Maybe i'm just looking to far into this..

BTW she is a Golden Retriever crossed with Corgi

Thanks guys!

It is normal. Dogs can see the TV just fine and really enjoy unique pictures that normally interest dogs. Animals are a big one.

Most if not all dogs have hunter instincts. Especially golden retrievers. They are even bred for that purpose.

Hunting dogs will chase anything that moves, the TV, shadows and if you're not careful cars and joggers too! Every dog I know will look at (or look for) animals they see on TV.

It is perfectly normal for them to watch TV for short periods of time. Once my dog, part German Shepherd and part Australian Shepherd was watching TV and a horse came on the screen. My dog leapt across the front room and had her two front paws on the screen to get a better look at the horse in about 2 seconds flat. Must have been her first horse.

Some dogs ignore TV, I imagine the words sound like adults in Charlie Brown "blah blah blah" but other dogs really watch TV. I remember a friends dog, Tricksie, she used to settle down and watch a show. She watched every move. But Pumpkin, right next to her, could care less.

That's adorable.
But it's normal. Some dogs watch TV and other don't.
My old dog, a border collie, would watch tennis matches, but my new dog, a beagle rotweiler mix, seems oblivious to it. However, she will jump up and run to the door if the doorbell rings on TV.

Dogs, even cats are just reacting to the sounds and images on tv. My dog, LOVES ELMO! His little head tilts back and forth everytime he's on tv!!! When a dog barks on tv he looks around the house for the dog!!!
Ya, it's normal LOL

Yea! It's quite normal! If a dog barks on tv, dogs will look toward the sound and perk their ears up! It doesn't mean your dog is aggressive! I have 3 dogs and all mine do that if they hear a dog bark on tv or a doorbell ring on tv!
