Your story is very sad, made worse by the lineage you come from. But not all is lost? It may not seem as good as what has been done before you, but there are many civilian jobs that you can do to aid the military, to aid your country. While you may not be able to enlist, your devotion to serving your country makes you as patriotic as any soldier.

Here is an Idea, another great way to serve your country is to become a teacher.
I know it doesn't sound as "cool" as a military job, but there you can help shape the future of our country.
If you are bent on dealing with the military, you could go overseas and teach at some of the schools on the military installations.
Then there are reseach and development jobs, military contractors, analysts etc.
Another thing you can look into is the Cival Air Patrol. They aren't exactly military but are very helpful in times of disaster, seaching for downed aircraft and things of that nature. I am not sure what there physical requirements are though.
Even if you aren't able to join the military, don't be discouraged. Be proud that you were at least willing to do so. Many, like the person who commented that you wouldn't be fighting for your country don't have the courage to defend what is right. Be thankful that your not like that.......

There are many ways to serve without becoming a member of the military.
You can look at many civilian jobs such as developing military equipment, performing LE details on military bases, or working in a IT type job on a base.
If it is the fact that you want to go overseas and help out they do have companies that hire civilians to work guard and traffic control oversesa. You also get paid big bucks..Im talking like $100,000.00 / yr. Just look around and options will start popping up.

Think about our founding fathers. Most of them did not fight in the American revolution, yet we call them patriots. Do you think they betrayed their country? Many have not served. Many in the future wont serve, but most of those who wont will not because they lack the courage or are unwilling to inconvenience themselves. They are physically able but lack the heart. You have the heart but are not physically able. To me having heart means more. No matter what you do in life you will find there are many things you can do to serve your country. Right now we are in a struggle right here at home with those who really are betraying their country. They are the ones who spread the lies and propaganda. You have no idea how much that hurts our troops and helps the enemy. You can write can't you? You did post this question. Keep it up. Write letters to the editor. Write letters of support to troops. If you are able you can volunteer your time in veterans hospitals. You have the ability even with your medical condition to contribute as much to defeating our enemies as you would if you were in the armed forces if you took the time and effort to do it. These are dangerous times which require courage from all of us, not just soldiers. Join a long line of American patriots who used their hearts and minds to serve their country.

First, I would say that depending upon your health "problem" all may not be lost. The thing about military doctors, even at MEPS, is that they aren't always the final say. You should look into whether or not your condition is "waiverable", meaning that a special exception may be made in your case. This usually happens with relatively smaller stuff, but is not unheard of for rather large things, even when looking to enlist! Frankly, the more enthusiastic you are about exhausting all avenues to get in, the better your chances are.

I am being serious when I say vote. Involve yourself in the community. Use you energy to up hold those rights and democratic principles that you would have defended in your countries armed forces. I was taught that in the long run a good citizen is just as important as a good soldier. Without the citizen the soldier really has no purpose.

There are many ways to serve your country without serving in the military. Invent a new vaccine, body armor, weapons systems, etc. You'll get the idea as time goes on.
