For 9 years my dog has always been "my" dog. She has always slept on her bed beside me. Now all of a sudden, she has started sleeping on the floor next to my husband or at the foot of the bed. Why? I've cleaned her bed the same way as before, but she will not get into it. She won't even come to my side of the bed. I'm beginning to take it personally! Do you think it has something to do with when we went on vacation and i put her bed out in the livingroom? (We closed all the doors to the other rooms). And yes she was well taken care of, we had family and friends taking care of her. She is fine everywhere else and she will sit beside me in other rooms. Any thoughts?

She could be mad at you for leaving. Or I hate to say it but she could be getting ready to pass away.

I don't believe dogs hold grudges for something like moving her bed and going on vacation. I'm guessing that maybe she gets warm at night and the bed is too hot, or have there been any changes in your nighttime routine? I've noticed that when I don't go to bed at the same time as my husband does, my dog will lay on the floor by my side of the bed till I come to bed, as if she's waiting up for me. Or if my husband goes out of town, she'll wait by the front window for him to come home. The only way I can get her to come to bed is to let her sleep in bed with me (but my husband doesn't know I do this!). Or if it does get too warm on summer nights, she will get up and go sleep in the living room.

Whatever the reason, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Just leave her bed where it is so she knows that she's always welcome to sleep in her usual place.

Maybe you should just take her out for the day to, "win" her back to your side of the bed. If your dog is up to it (i know my isn't and she's five) take your dog for a walk. Just maybe around the block or further (preferbly.) My dog loves going in car rides, whenever my family goes on one with her she's she comes out happy. Play with her to. Get her chew toy and play around and feed her treats. Anything to make her happy. It works on my dog hopefully it will work with yours!

Try putting treats on your side of the bed.. Or maybe she is mad at you but let her let her anger go and maybe your dog will sleep with her

Has your husband been sick lately, usually the only reason a dog will change the behavior this way, is that they sense something is wrong

I agree with the guy, get your husband checked out. My dog was super snugly with me when I was pregnant...not that your husband is, but he may have something wrong.
