Should I stay with my current employer that I am with for just under a month, or should I take an opportunity that just came up that I am interested in and have been waiting for months.
I like where I am and they like me very much, but this new opportunity will allow me to learn new skills and will be a challenge.
Also, this new opportunity is located in Tampa. I am not familiar with Tampa and I am not sure if I would like it. Anyone have info on Tampa?

So my problem is, should I stay with a company that just hired me and like my work, or should I follow what might be a foolish dream?

Thanks

Oh, I hate it when that happens!!!! You wait for the perfect job/ spouse, etc. and just when you give up and settle for second best, your dream come true shows up....Do you follow your heart? or do you stick with the safe bet?
Well, there is always a risk, whether it is the risk of losing a perfectly good but uninspiring job (the one that you're in) or the risk of hating your current job because you will always think, "what if I had followed my heart?"
So to be able to get out of your confusion, maintain your sanity and make up your mind, you really have to study the pros and cons of each job. It is as simple as making a list of positives and negatives of each job. Keep in mind that it really doesn't look very good on your resume that you stayed in a job for one month. And if you do stay in your current job for a reasonable length of time, your dream job may become available again in the future. So think about your priorities and carefully weigh your options. If in the end, both options have the same weight, either just follow your heart or flip a coin and stick to the outcome!
Sometimes we are convinced we know what we want...but fate has other plans.

Hope this helps!
Good luck!
BTW: This doesn't apply very much to the spouse issue by the way :)

That is a complecated question. I have been at my job almost 2 years and for 2 years I have wanted to quit. The reason I stay there though is the respect, never has it been the pay. Until today that is. Today I got the chance of a lifetime at a job I really never wanted to be at, but showed up and was very persistent and did my work. If you like the job that you already have you are already doing better than most people. But if it is the skills you are looking for and you are willing to put yourself on the line even if you dont like the job when you get there that is what matters the most. It is about survival. Sometimes it is more foolish to let your dreams pass you by than to ride it through even if it dont work out in the end you gained something out of it-experience.

I guess that depends upon whether you are a risk taker or not. It takes a lot of courage to do something, even if it is something you have dreamed of, if it is outside your comfort zone. It boils down to whether you are willing or able to take the chance. Good luck on whatever you decide.

Which one will you have more opportunity with?
Which one will you be happier with?

I know it's hard to leave a job that you are comfortable with, but if the other one will be better in the long run, leave the current one.

If you don't know what Tampa is like, why not visit the place. You don't have to spend a lot. Just get to know the place. If you like there, and you feel your heart is taking you somewhere. Go there.

Stay where you are. If you keep changing jobs you will have a hard time finding a job in the future. Who would hire you if you are only going to stay until you get another offer?

It sounds like you need someone to tell you to go for it. Personally, I think you'd look back and always wonder if you didn't. I say take it and don't look back. Of course make sure you have the job in line before you quit and are left with neither job.

Larry Flint had a dream of showing naked women in magazines. Now look at the rich SOB. Follow your dream and listen to your heart. The worst thing that can happen is you can fail. But hell you can fail and get fired from the job you have now.

Well life is full of taking chances don't be one of those people who say later that "Man..I should of took that job I can kick myself for not doing it!" It's all about regret. If you think you might regret not taking the new job it just might be something to look into.
