If i have a choice to wear they put the IV should i choose my fist area or that crease next to my elbow?

Your hand. I have had it in both and the hand is the best place to have an IV put in.

You don't need a choice. Just tell them where you want it and that you do not want it in the other place and they will accept that.

I would say the hand, it hurts a little less and is less in the way than the elbow.

You won't have a choice. IV site decisions are made by the person starting the IV and are determined by the purpose of the IV, how long it will be in place, your age and the condition of your veins, what will be in the IV and other considerations.

It's going to hurt less where ever your veins are the best. Let the nurse make the decision. They do it on a daily basis and if you have a good one they can do it with relatively little pain. Of course it's going to hurt more if you tense up and are scared it's going to hurt.

The will most likely put it in your hand but one doesn't really hurt less than the other. Have them put it in your less dominant hand.

Usually it will get started in your hand or somewhere on the lower arm. But it really does depend on who is starting it, why your getting it and what will be running through it.
