marathon is about 25 miles (26 i think). A half marathon would be 13 miles then.

A believe a Triathalon is a 1 mile (about 1600 meters) swim, 10k run, and a long bike ride. A half triathalon would be 1/2 mile swim, 5k run, and half of a long bike ride. They also may come in other distances, but I think those are the common ones.

A 5k = 5 kilometers = 3.1 miles.

For comparison's sake, 1 mile=about 4 laps around a regular track field or or 64 laps in your standard (25M) swim pool

A marathon is 26 miles. A half marathon, is, well, half of that, 13 miles. A triathlon, is a race involving 3 sports, traditionally a foot race, a bike ride and a swim.

It varies. Those are just names, the race info will supply the distance. Some marathons are 26 miles and others are shorter. A 5k is equivalent to like 3.2 or 3.6 miles. There isn't a standard distance for triathlons.

There are many different lengths of triathlons, from try-a-tri to Ironman and Hyperman, it all depends on the race series you are taking part in.
Here is a general idea of each race and its distance -

Sprint - 750 m swim, 20K bike, 5K run
Olympic - 1.5K swim, 40K bike, 10K run
Half Ironman - 1.2 mi swim, 56 mi bike, 13.1 mi run
Ironman - 2.4 mi swim, 112 mi bike, 26.2 mi run

Best to try the link below to get a handle on the different names and distances.
