My parents have a sony trinitron xbr. All of a sudden a green screen comes up for about 10 seconds, then it turns off. Do you know what is wrong? (there isnt anything wrong with the cable because we have another compact Tv replacing it.)

From your information, the display panel or tube doesn't seems broken. There must be some problems causing the power supply or the power switch. I would suggest that you go to Sony service center or probably a repair center.

Sounds like component failure (probaly CRT tube). Pitch the TV and get another (TV repair for an old CRT is pretty much useless).
