man, I swear those bastards are going to find some loophole and start outlawing church services that teach that homosexuality is wrong, and everything else that goes against the "legal" church sermon.

I can't wait till they do that becuz God is REALLY going to make them pay. Finally, the apocalypse is here.

They should. An any parent who abuses their children by taking them to church should have to give up their kids to Child Protective Services. They aren't fit to be parents.

The ACLU cannot and has never outlawed ANYTHING. All the ACLU can do is file a lawsuit if they feel that the government or a private person has violated the law. A judge or jury would then have to find that someone did something illegal in order to enjoin it.

And do you know of any cases in which the ACLU has attempted to tell a church what they can say in a church service that was not connected to a school or some other government activity? I am not aware of any such cases, and I would be surprised if the ACLU would take such a case, since the ACLU is a big believer in free speech, as well as in the principle of separation of church and state, both of which are written into the First Amendment of the United States Constitution.

Where did you get the idea the ACLU wants to interfere in religion? I haven't heard it or seen it.

You wrote "... start outlawing church services that teach that homosexuality is wrong, and everything else that goes against the "legal" church sermon.

This implies the ACLU is seeking to make it a hate crime to speak against homosexuality in church. Did I get that right?

I am dumbfounded, I want to know what gave you the impression this was happening.

Offer up some proof or have the decency to withdraw your question.

Wait, it wasn't a question, it was a rant. YOU BAD GIRL!!!!!!

Well, they really won't be able to do that, because in all honestly they would be defending the Church to have free speech. There are some Christians with the ACLU, believe it or not. They believe totally in free speech, no matter what it is.
The ACLU has defended a leader for the KKK (only for talking, no violence) and some white males for the cause of reverse discrimination and have won. .
Frankly they totally disgust me, but they do, occasionally take on other causes. Part of the issue is that the other groups seldom ask or want the help of the ACLU.

The ACLU has no power to outlaw anything. Get your facts straight.

The ACLU gets involved in cases where people's rights have been violated -- including their right to practice their religion or none at all. Therefore, church services wouldn't apply because everybody present is in voluntary attendance (well, except for the children), therefore no rights have been violated whatsoever. DUH.

However, if the priest or pastor writes an article in which s/he makes false or libelous statements (whether about homosexuals or anybody else), and it gets published in the local newspaper, then both writer and publisher should expect to be sued by somebody, possibly the ACLU, because then he's outside the church walls and in public territory.

Thank GOD SOMEONE is doing something about outlawing those hateful church services! Polluting the minds of children, teaching them that Jesus is the only way . . .

God Bless the ACLU!

The ACLU don't care what you do in your church (as long as it is legal), they exist to vigourously protect American's CIVIL liberties. It's funny how apparently otherwise intelligent Americans don't understand what they do, or why they are so important. It was the ACLU who were active in Brown vs. the Board of Education, because it is unConstitutional to discriminate based on race. But it was also the ACLU who defended the right of American Nazis to march. You either believe in liberty or you don't, you can't just believe in "your" liberty!

actually you should try this. say some thing to a homosexual that they sue you for claim freedom of speech and ask the ACLU for help.
the ACLU exists to protect rights. freedom of speech applies to hate speech too
maybe that is why they get a bad rep. they defend those who we disagree with

I was told if you are going on here to represent God or Christianity you can't use cuss words That brings reproach on god and does more harm than good.
Judge not lest ye be judged. Can't do that either.
shame on you!
Now this is what you could say: 1Corinthians 6:9 says
What do you not know that unrighteous person will not inherit God's kingdom?Do not be misled, neither fornicators nor idolaters , not adulterers nor men kept for unnatural purposes nor men who lie with men. nor thieves nor greedy persons will not inherit god's kingdom.

The ACLU doesn't give a damn about what you do in your private church. In fact, they work to protect your freedom to do whatever you want in your private church. If you have a different perception of them then you need to take off your godly glasses and look at it from a neutral standpoint.

You're very confused about what the ACLU works for. They have filed many lawsuits to support people who were saying unpopular things and being censored by the government.

They have also filed many suits to support people who wanted to practice their religion without government interference.

They have also filed suits to stop the government from giving preference to one religion over another - and that has gotten many complaints because there are people who want the government to support their religious beliefs and only their religious beliefs.
