Cat scratches itch because they lick their paws and their saliva gets on their claws.... Cat saliva is a major allergen!!! That is why people are so allergic to cats... because they have their slobber all over them.

Cause what was under the cats claws are irriating you. Cat Scratch Fever is not just a good Ted Nugent song. It is a real problem. You need to put an antibiotic ointment on the scratch.

Spray Bactine on the scratch right away and it won't itch and get all puffy. Why does it happen? Same as if a human were to scratch you, dirt and grime on the nails.

Sure they do - don't you scratch when it itches?

Seriously though, make sure there are no fleas or ear mites. If it scratches A Lot, then take it to the vet to make sure there's no skin problems.

They itch while your skin is being regenerated. Scratches don't take too long to heal. If you think about it, scrapes (such as from falling) are the same way.
