There are a ton of ways to be "artsy" with the kids, both of them. One thing you can make is a fruit loop necklace. It's pretty much the equivelant of a traditional candy necklace, but they get to choose their colors of fruit loops and you use yarn to hold it together. Finger paints are also alot of fun and easy to wash off. Just make sure you use your entire kitchen table, cover it in newspaper and give the kids a few pieces of paper to paint on. It also helps to put some old t-shirts on them that you will never wear again. Crayola also makes soap crayons. This one I love, and is my kids favorite. They can draw all over the bathroom walls in the tub, have a blast doing it and get themselves clean at the same time. It rinses right off. If you have any pringle containers, you can eat the chips, fill it with beans/peas or macaroni noodles and tape up the ends and they'll have a musical instrument that will last for hours. And let's not forget the traditional paper airplanes. I don't care what age...all kids are fascinated by those. You can make them and have races and if one doesn't fly so far, deem it as the trick plane.
If none of those appeal to you, you can always go to yahoo seach and look under craft projects for children 5 and under...there are a ton of websites loaded with ideas.
Happy crafting!

5 year olds can reach a table so I would do finger paints for the 5 year old (or better yet do it outside and make cleaning up part of the fun) that way the two year old can join in. There isn't a kid of any age( including daddy) that doesn't love a hose in the yard.
The point is have fun with all your kids.

Clay is excellent for motor skills, as well as any kind of Lincoln Logs or Legos...or you could try making rubbings, placing something, like a penny, underneath a piece of paper and rubbing a crayon over the top to make an impression of it.

If you have some pavement/concrete outside you might try sidewalk chalk. It is inexpensive and you can create great works of art that you can leave or hose down to clean up. Even your two-year-old can get into the fun.
