As someone who works in science yes I believe in evolution but I know it is only a partially proved theory and the rest is supposition built upon that.

One doesn't believe in evolution... one accepts it or doesn't.
The funny thing is, it wouldn't be such a big deal if the Christian creationists didn't make a big deal of it. Nowhere else on earth is there any kind of debate over religion.
The ones who don't accept evolution either A) Don't really understand it, B) Have been brainwashed by the church, or C) Don't care.
I happen to accept it based on the sheer amount of varied evidence from so many separate disciplines of science. If you were to really look at the evidence without bias, and truly understand what it all means, there would be very little to do but accept it as closest to the truth. It's not perfect, but neither is ID or creationism (which are NOT science by the way and shouldn't be competing with it).
Keep in mind here that theory in the scientific world means something far different than the way you would use the word on a daily basis. A scientific theory has sufficient evidence supporting it... it is not a guess or just an idea as most people think it is.

No one "believes" in evolution. Evolution is a scientific theory. It does not ask for belief. It is an explanation that can be demonstrated by scientific experiments.
But if you are saying that because you are an atheist, you do not care how we got here, I find that sad. To me it is such an inherently interesting question.

I don't really care either way if we evolved from Monkey's or not. I mean I just live my life. I have heard some crazy theories that at some point in our evolution we were visited by aliens and they gave us the ability to advance ourselves...The evidence of that is in the fact that there are pyramids and monuments like that scattered around the world and each one relates to the stars and each one shows beings coming from space...but I don't know about all that.

I don't believe in evolution. I credit it as the most plausible scientific theory to explain the biodiveristy we have today, why some species go extinct, etc.
Since I work in science I care only when creationists try to teach ID as an "alternative theory" in the science classroom. The scientific field is based on tightly held guidelines--and these guidelines are what made our technilogical leaps possible. Creationists want to do away with these guidelines, and that affects me.

lol.. You know what I have never really thought about "if I dont believe in god what do I believe in" Because if evolution was the answer wouldnt there still be apes transforming into men etc.. Maybe we should look into where we came from.. Nah.. I dont particularly care, we have always just been lets go with that!

I believe in all forms of evolution, and it's something I care about because I'm studying biology and plan to pursue a career in the field.

Evolution is not a matter of 'faith', a person with a logical mind no more chooses to "believe in evolution" than they choose to "believe in chemotherapy" or "believe the water heater will make the water hot". These things are just apparent. They should be equally apparent to atheists, theists and non-theists alike!

there isn't the slightest doubt evolution did occur and continues to occur, there is no holes in it at all. What exactly is our evolutionary path has some questions , but the veracity of evolution isn't dependent on a water tight evolutionary path for man
