I prefer LCD screens over plasma, but they both have draw backs. With LCD screens, you run the risk of buying a TV with dead pixel(s). With plasma, if you watch a show that has a constant picture on screen (like a news program or something) and you watch it long enough, you can burn the image into the screen so no matter what channel you watched, you could faintly see the burned image.

In general, plasma still has the best picture and will last 60,000 hours. But you can find better looking LCDs, or better looking plasmas. Check avs forums for more info.

i wouldn't buy either. plasmas seemed to be a temporary bridge. i see very few in the stores now. lcd's are more popular and a little cheaper but they have bad pixelation on sizes above 23" or so. the really big lcd's look terrible. sony's new model looks very promising as does jvc's. they're both around $4000 but the price will probably come down soon.

LCD technology will eventually win out over plasma. The down sides of plasma include burn-in (ghost images) and fading (loss of sharpness and color detail).

Check out this website. But I have heard that Lcd is better and lasts longer.
