Teachers that drink or smoke occasionally?

Question

I have a substitute teaching position that is going to become a full time high school math teacher.

Do you other teachers ever go to a bar and have a drink. (not get drunk!!) and maybe have a cigar? I do about once every couple of weeks.

I know being a teacher means to set a good example. I don't purposely go out and smoke and drink in front of young kids.

How is this factor now days? What I am doing is perfectly legal. Not having more than one drink and smoking is legal. Even in public

Do any of you other teachers drink or smoke once in a while?

Well everyone has a home life and a work life. If your responsible with your home life and it includes going out to a bar or having a cig... then why not? I have a good friend who is a cop. I met him as a cop. Rules are they can't smoke where they can be seen in uniform. Its out of example and respect for us. But when hes on his own time he does it, and responsibly. His kids arn't there to watch and neither are anyone elses. As long as he doesnt abuse anything hes all set. People of all jobs deserve a social life too.

teachers do it all the time
i mean think about it
teachers get pregnant and stuff
and they should be teaching kids not to have sex
but they get pregnant in their life, a life different from school
if ur life out of school has u drinking and having a cigar, then have a cigar and a beer

undergo in techniques, a splendidly wholesome teen who does not smoke, drink or use drugs can furnish delivery to a toddler who may well be disabled. would you love that youngster any much less? i think of the greater considerable situation to difficulty approximately is the birthparents inflicting issues. do you already know this woman personaly? Is she interested in an open or closed adoption? Are you prepared or in a position to go in case you probably did undertake this infant? Disabled or no longer, i could no longer bare to depart a helpless infant with mothers and dads like that. Do what you experience is nice for you.

If your students are in high school, I'm assuming they won't be able to get into a bar to witness you smoking and drinking. Compared to what some teachers are doing these days, you're a saint!

Well of course teachers can have a drink or a cigar if they want to. They can have a life, same as anyone in any other profession.

I remember the day I found out my favorite 4th grade teacher smoked.

I was shattered. No longer above mere humans, I discovered that day that teachers were just people.

Of course they do. Guess what, there are teachers that get stone drunk also. Teachers are human.

As long as your not bringing it to school or "wearing it", I don't see a problem here. Enjoy yourself! Teachers are people too!

I'm no smoker, but I do teach math, and I do have a beer or two. I don't worry about students seeing me, because I am doing it responsibly.

my mom is a teach and she drinks when we have parties.she recently went to a retreat that her school rents out for them and there were teachers there that drank till they were up puking all night.
