I have a 96 passat and the interior fabric on the roof has been slowly peeling off for sometime now. How it started peeling off i dont know but it has spread to most of the roof. I have tried to use elmers spray adhesive to reglue it but it didnt work at all. Any suggestions of any products/processes can help me fix this?

look for headliner sagging advertisements in your phone book, under auto trim, or auto sunroof and accessories and go on-line Headliner Repair you will find some one will be able to repair it. Elmer's glue? Water based Cow Hoofs what were you thinking? I would have tried contact adheasive. but I'm an auto technician

FOR A QUICK FIX ,JUST TO GET IT UP AND OUT OF YOUR WAY. YOU CAN USE LITTLE PUSH PINS .THE BACKING IN BETWEEN THE CLOTH AND THE METAL HAS A VERY THIN SPONGE LIKE MATERIAL . THE PINS WILL SICK INTO IT VERY EASY. THIS IS CALLED MICKY MOUSING IT UNTIL YOU CAN COME UP WITH THE MONEY TO HAVE IT REPLACED. REPAIRING IT ONLY PROLONGS THE FINAL OUTCOME. ONLY BECAUSE THE BACKING IN BETWEEN THE CLOTH AND THE METAL IS DETERIORATING AND THAT IS JUST HOW THEY DID IT . BAD IDEA BAD PLANNING ON THE AUTO MAKERS PART. JUST TO LET YOU KNOW THE SPRAY ADHESIVES DO NT WORK ONLY BECAUSE THE SPRAY STICKS TO THE BACKING . AND GUESS WHAT IS DETERIORATING . YOU GOT IT ........

Your going to need to have the headliner replaced. Many places will do it for under 100 dollars. The heat and moisture have already taken a toll on your headliner, Just get it replaced and you will be much happier.
