I am hard of hearing and wear a hearing aid. Since 2001 I've had bouts of dizziness, some causing me to fall. Thus far, an allergist, nuerologist, ENT, and a cardiologist have found no cause. Who can I consult with next?

I suspect that it definitely has to do with your ears since you are hard of hearing. It's called Vertigo. Has anyone ever mentioned that too you?

I'm not sure what you can do about it, but if you mention this condition to your doctor, they might be able to recommend something.

I had Vertigo merely because my ears were clogged with earwax from swimming so much. Gross I know but once she flushed them, within a few days I felt normal again and the same symptoms as you, just feeling weak and dizzy and off balance and I thought it was my eyesight...somehow the two seem to be connected to me!

It could be a vestibular sense disorder. This is when the fluid in your inner ear is either in motion, out of balance (when your head is tilted), or even standing still, and your eyesight is providing conflicting information to the vestibular sense. This is called vertigo, and is also common with sea and air sickness.

If this is not the cause, you may wish to consult a psychologist to discover if there is another cause.

If the dizziness comes and goes, it could be related to something else such as an allergy to food or medicine. If it happens more often when getting up and out of bed, it could be a balance problem such as Meniers syndrome, I don't think I spelled that correctly. A medication named Meclazine is good for that. If nothing helps, I would go back to the neurologist for testing. Good luck!

have you asked whether or not you have vertigo? Or may I ask if you eat frequently throughout the day? If you don't eat enough and happen to get up quickly... that may cause you to become off balance.

Could it be time to get your ears checked and possibly a different style of hearing aid? Could something be going on with that?

Could it be an inner ear disorder?
