A New York Minute is just a term meaning a really short amount of time. Since New York is such a hustling and bustling place and New Yorkers are always rushing about, it seems as though we are in another speed and time zone. We do everything quickly and expect everything to be done yesterday -- hence the term, "In a New York Minute".

It's a really fast time - a few seconds- because New York is in such a frenzy.

I reckon you've heard the song by the Eagles, if not you should listen to it. I think of a NY Minute as having the same meaning as a blink of an eye. Things move quickly in NY (other than traffic) So my guess would be a moment that just flew by you.
