Two typical uses:
1. With a 3rd person singular verb (se puede, se hace, se dice, se escribe etc.), it is used to make a passive form of the verb, so the examples above translate to it can be done, it is done, it is said, it is written.
2. It is also used to make verbs reflexive, meaning that the person is doing the action to themselves (usually, although that doesn't always translate exactly into an english concept). For example, acostar = to put to bed (acosté a mi niño = I put my boy to bed), but acostarse = to go to bed (to put oneself to bed, ex. se acostó temprano = he went to bed early.) There are lots of reflexive verbs, and you'll usually see them in the dictionary as the infinitive with the -se ending, like hacerse (to become), cansarse (to become tired), quejarse (to complain), and many more.

well, "si se puede" can mean 2 things depending on how it's said...
"si se puede" means "if it's able" and "sÃ, se puede" (note the accented i) means "yes, it can be done". So basically, "se" would mean "it".
Se cannot be used by itself.

"se" is not usually used on it's own. U must put it with other words or in a sentence to make sense.
