Highlights for dark brown hair?

I have been thinking of getting highlights, maybe burgundy ones, but I'm not sure if burgundy would look good with dark brown hair? What other colors would look good? Also, do you like thick, chunky pieces of color or just little streaks?

My hair color is chocolate brown. I've highlighted my hair a nice carmel color and it makes it look very light. I've also had red/burgundy color put it in and a I really like that much better. It just depends on what color your looking for. If you want to have your hair really lighten go with the carmel tones, if you want to keep your hair dark with some warm color go with the reds. i also have dark brown hair and decided to get highlights. since my hair was so thick i decided to get thin highlights because it made it look more even. i have three seperate colors in my hair blonde mocha and caramel all spread out it looks great well at least i think it looks good.

Try to go for a smaller highlight... with a natural looking color.

do blonde and just use little streaks. i did it like 4yrs ago and i have dark brown hair and it looked good

if you have blonde hair that will naturally get bleached by the sun in the summer. There had been this guy in my class who also had golden blonde hair that had been a medium brown near the bottom. When he came back to university after summer vacation, it was almost platinum blonde!
